Zoo Trips (2015)

Still working toward catching up on pictures from last year. I have a busy August ahead of me, and there will undoubtedly be a lot of pictures from events/trips to go through then, so I need to get caught up on last year quickly!

Last year my cousins and I got a zoo pass, and made several trips to Omaha over the summer. I took few pictures on a couple of the trips, and I'm putting them all into one post.

Most of the pictures came from the aquarium. It's probably has the most photogenic attractions there. If you can get the lighting right. :)

I had just gotten my GoPro here, and I was testing it out. :)

Shaina loves the puffins. :)

Sarah wanted to pose with the giant spider crabs. :)

We saw this really strange creature in the tank! I think it even waved at us at one point!

We went to see a 3D movie. And took a selfie. :p

That's all my zoo pics for now. Next photo-post will be of our trip to Chicago!

Not Much News

I haven’t really had anything to blog about, so I haven’t posted in awhile. School is going pretty well. The worst class is my history class. That I have not been getting all A’s in, but at least this is not for lack of study. It is an extremely hard class. The teacher makes all the questions in such a way that it is impossible to find the answers quickly. The tests are open book, but that hasn’t helped one bit. The first exam had a two hour time limit, and I believe it had 75 questions. I wasn’t even able to finish the test before the time ran out. In most of my classes, (And I don’t say this to brag, it’s just a fact) I am almost always one of the top students, so If I wasn’t even able to finish it, I hate to think what the test might be like for all the other students. There’s another exam coming up this weekend, so you can pray about that if you think about it. For Joel too, as he is having the exact same problems as I.

Biology has been going pretty well. I did much better on the second test, an A. :) This week in lab we made yogurt. and then two days later we tried it.

It was nasty.

Painting class has been going well. I am loving it. No photos to share yet, but I’ll take some soon. This week we learned how to stretch our own canvases for our next project. A self portrait. Not really looking forward to that…

I’m having fun learning Photoshop. :) Here’s a picture that I decided to improve. :) It may end up on my photoblog in the future, but here’s a preview for now.

I was quite pleased with how it turned out. It really looks like it was taken out in the wild instead of an indoor jungle! :)

Tomorrow I have my monthly Photo Club meeting at the zoo, so I will be getting lots of new pictures to share. I actually still have a bunch from last month that I could post, but I haven’t found the time to go through and edit very many yet. Hopefully I find some time this month for my photo blog. I think I made only 7 posts this month, and two of them were yesterday!

Well, I’d better go for now, I need to get up early if I’m to make it to the meeting in Omaha by 9 in the morning!

To the Zoo With Matthew: Part 2

You can find part one HERE.

Tapirs are another of my favorite animals. They’re just so different from any other animal. :)

You gotta love monkeys. :)

This sun bear was way up high in the tree branches, and he looked like he was just clinging on for dear life.

Windows at the different exhibit around the zoo make for great photography subjects. I like getting pictures of people looking through them almost as much as the animals themselves.

Spoonbills are so odd. They almost seem prehistoric to me.

Zoo3 431

They are almost pretty and ugly at the same time.

Part 3 will be coming soon!

To the Zoo with Matthew

Zoo3 717

This month, instead of going to the zoo alone, I went with my friend Matthew. We had a great time and visited a few places I had never gone before. I have a ton of pictures, as usual. I will be doing my regular post here, and then I will also be doing posts of my more “Artistic” (In my opinion anyway) pictures on my photo blog.

This little frog cracked me up. I’m not sure what exactly he was looking for. :)

Zoo3 050Zoo3 051Zoo3 054

I finally got a better picture of this female parrot.

Zoo3 056

There were docents walking around the Animal Kingdom Pavilion with animals for people to pet. I petted this ball python. It was a lot warmer than one would imagine. Snakes are cold blooded, but that doesn’t mean they’re cold to the touch.

Zoo3 068

Peacocks all over the place, as usual.

Zoo3 075

They were really shrieking that morning.

If it were legal to own an okapi, I would. How could anyone NOT love that face? :)

Zoo3 259

I hadn’t realized the zoo had two okapis! I wonder if they just got the second one. It is fenced off from the main one.

Zoo3 203

I took a ton of pictures of the okapi. I will do an entirely separate post on my photo blog just about him.

Zoo3 264

This hornbill was pretty crazy. He kept running all around the fence trying to get people to feed him.

Zoo3 273

Blogger is not wanting to publish my post, it may be that I have too many pictures, so I am going to have to split up this post into more than one. Be on the lookout for part two soon!
