Chicago 2015 (Part 2)

If you missed Part 1 of these photos, you can click HERE to catch up.

Last time we went to Chicago we went to the Willis (Sears) Tower. We didn't want to do that many repeats this trip, so this time we went to the Hancock Tower.

It's cool to look down over the city and see places that you had recently walked by or visited.

Classic cityscape.

We also just kind of walked around the city that day, and we found a really cool candy store. Everything was way too expensive and we didn't buy anything, but it was cool nonetheless. :p

On one of our last few days we went to the Museum of Science and Industry with Becky, Ethan and Lucas. Ethan loved hanging out with Shaina. :)

It was a rather long trip to get to the museum, 2 trains, and a bus.
Lucas fell asleep before we even got there.

This museum was one of the coolest places we visited. They had an indoor tornado!

And a mirror maze

This place was so trippy and cool.

An endless maze of me.

They had a bunch of incubators with chicks and eggs at various stages.

They were so cute.

Lucas may be rather camera shy, (See last post) but Ethan isn't. :p

On our second to last day we went to the Field museum, which was cool as always.

Shaina has been fascinated with lichens ever since she watched Labyrinth, (which we had just recently watched) so we had to go see their new, temporary lichen exhibit.

The dinosaurs were my favorite part. :p

While we were there I had to find this exhibit. I watch the YouTube channel, The Brain Scoop, which is now based out of the Field Museum, and they recently had a fund drive to create a whole new exhibit for these hyenas. Apparently they have been in the reptile room for decades, and they have been wanting to make a better home for them for a long time. They did eventually reach their goal, and the new exhibit was recently completed. I will have to find that the next time I go.

On our very last day, Sasha was too exhausted to do anything, so Shaina and I went to Navy Pier by ourselves. The Ferris wheel was our favorite part. :)

We also rode the carousal.

We rode the Ferris wheel a few times.

This ride was so much fun.

We also road it more than once. :)

This was our view on our last night there. Chicago is such a cool place. :)

That's all the pictures I have from this trip! In two weeks my cousins and I will be in Minnesota, and I will do my very best to get those up as soon as possible after we get back. :)

Chicago 2015 (Part 1)

Last year my cousins Shaina and Sasha and I went to Chicago for two weeks to visit our aunt and uncle, and also go site seeing. It took me a year, but now I've finally gotten my pictures from the trip edited! We're taking another trip next month, hopefully It won't take me a year to get those pictures done. :p

I did not bring my camera with me on this trip, so there aren't going to be a huge amount of pictures, but with the amount of commuting via public transportation we had to do, it was just easier to bring my call phone and just use that. But as you can see, my cell phone still takes decent pictures. They're not going to win any awards, but they'll do fine as vacation photos.

This is the Wheaton station. Every day we took a train from here to Oak Park, and then switched trains and took another one into the city. It was more complicated that way, but because of the fares, it was much cheaper to take the second train.

Sasha brought her walrus, Steve, to take pictures of wherever we went.

Our first stop was the Adler Planetarium.

This thing was cool, it was like a heat mirror.

Storm coming in over the lake.

This statue was a popular perch for the seagulls.

On one of the nights we all went to my cousin Chris and Becky's for supper.

Lucas is a bit camera shy. :p

Ethan and Shaina are very much kindred spirits. :p

At they end of the night they did not want us to leave and tried to block the door. :p

Two opposite reactions to a camera. :p

On this day we took a ride on one of the tall ships in the harbor at Navy Pier.

It was such a cool experience.

You can tell we were hot and worn out after that day, but it was a lot of fun. :)

On one of the days we actually got to ride the subway. All the trains are connected, but there is a part of the city where it goes underground and becomes a subway. I know it makes me sound like such a tourist/country mouse, but it was really cool to ride the subway. :p

We went to a modern art museum, but it was incredibly sparse as far as exhibits. What they had was cool and interesting, but there really wasn't all that much there. This exhibit was a room that was full of a hot air balloon that you could walk around in. That was probably the coolest part.

I had to take a picture of an incoming train at least once. :)

We went into Chinatown on another day, but we didn't find much to see at all, except for some cheesy little shops. We later found out that we may not have gone to the right part, because apparently there was a lot more there than we saw.

At least we saw this thing, and ate at a nice(ish) little restaurant. :)

In contrast with the modern art museum, the Art Institute of Chicago had a TON of stuff. We literally spent an entire day there, and I'm not even sure we saw it all. It was utterly enormous. They had everything from classical art, to modern art, and everything in between. I didn't take all that many pictures there, but I did make sure to get pictures of two of the most famous pieces they had. This one is, of course, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.

And Everyone knows American Gothic. :p

On another day we went to the Morton Arboretum again. We went there the last time we visited, but this time they we hosting an exhibit of Lego sculptures. They were quite impressive.

That's all for now, this was just the first half or so of the trip. I'll post a second batch of pictures tomorrow.
