Exploding Cars

Another work of art that was in one of our teacher’s slides was a piece by a Chinese artist, Cai Guo-Qiang, called “Inopportune: Stage One”. It is a site specific installation meaning it is different in every place it is displayed. These pictures are from its debut at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.

These are life-size cars with multi-colored rods of light, simulating explosions.

All the cars are suspended down through the middle of the museum.

I would love to see this live. I think it looks amazing!
