411

Guess what that number means.

Ears.

Ears of corn.

August 024

This is what my day was filled with.

After seeing a facebook ad for an excellent deal on sweet corn at Hy-Vee, I called mom and told her because I thought she might want to stop there after work and get a bag. She wondered if they had a limit, so I called to find out, and was told that there might be a limit, they weren’t sure, but if it was me I could probably get as much as I wanted. I guess working there has its perks. :)

I called mom back and she wanted some for freezing, so I drove into town and ended up filling a total of ten bags and paying only 15 dollars. I brought it home and made supper while my two youngest brother shucked them, and mom and I started working on them at around seven, after supper was over. Joel came home from work at about 11:30 and helped until we finished, a little over a half an hour ago, not quite two in the morning.

August 027

Grand total was just over 34 dozen ears, and 47 quart bags full.

Needless to say, at the moment, I never want to see another ear of corn as long as I live.
